Referral website, not the contractor. How it works

Tree service in Bullard covers removals, trimming, stump grinding and storm cleanup for homes on both sides of the Smith and Cherokee county line. To get help, send a request with the form, and pick "Bullard" as your town.

Tyler TX Tree is a referral website, not a tree service company. We send your request to one independent local tree service company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.

We send Bullard requests to a local tree service company that serves the area, and it will tell you whether it covers your address and whether it charges a trip fee. Pricing and scheduling come from that company.

What's different about tree work in Bullard

Two counties. Bullard sits at the junction of US 69 and Farm Roads 2493, 2137 and 344, about twelve miles south of Tyler, in the far south of Smith County and the north of Cherokee County, according to the Texas State Historical Association. Census Bureau estimates for July 2025 put about 4,950 of the town's residents on the Smith County side and about 350 on the Cherokee County side. County rules, such as burn bans, depend on which side you're on.

Fast growth. The Census Bureau estimates Bullard grew from about 3,800 residents in April 2020 to about 5,300 in July 2025, roughly 39 percent. TSHA notes the population had already more than doubled between 2000 and 2010.

Its own city rules. Bullard City Hall is at 114 S. Phillips, (903) 894-7223. Tyler's tree code and brush fees don't apply in Bullard; ask the city about any permit questions.

Bullard's brush rules

The City of Bullard's bulky item pickup covers brush, with these rules:

  • Who gets it. It's a monthly service for residents signed up with city utilities, collected by Republic Services.
  • Which Thursday. Homes west of FM 2493 (except Windsor Estates) are picked up on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Homes east of FM 2493, plus Windsor Estates, are on the 4th Thursday.
  • Bundle limit. Brush and branches must be bundled together, and each bundle must weigh less than 35 pounds. That's lighter than Tyler's 50-pound limit.
  • Timing and placement. Set brush out no earlier than one day before pickup, just behind the curb in front of your home. Keep piles away from parked cars, fences, trees, mailboxes and water meters, and not beneath overhead wires or low-hanging limbs.
  • The landfill option. City utility customers get three free cubic yards of landfill disposal each month, with a water bill and driver's license, at 440 Heath Ln. in Jacksonville. Questions: Republic at 903-586-1449.

The roll-off trap. The City of Bullard has an exclusive contract with Republic Services, and all roll-offs and bins must come from Republic. A roll-off or bin from another company can bring a fine of $200 to $500, with each day a separate offense. If a tree company plans to drop a dumpster for a big removal or clearing job, make sure it's arranged through Republic, or have the company haul the debris on its own trucks.

Tree services in Bullard

  • Tree removal. Dead, leaning or crowding trees near the house, taken down in sections where needed.
  • Storm and emergency tree removal. Trees and limbs on roofs, cars, fences or driveways after storms.
  • Stump grinding. Taking stumps below grade so you can mow or replant.
  • Tree trimming. Roof clearance, deadwood and low limbs. Trim oaks outside February through June.

If limbs are near a power line, call the electric utility named on your bill. Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 752 bars work within six feet of a high-voltage overhead line unless the line's owner has arranged safety measures.

Before you send a request

  • Say which side of FM 2493 you're on, and whether you're a city utility customer, if you plan to use bulky pickup.
  • Give the tree's height, type if you know it, and distance from the house.
  • Ask how the company will haul debris, given Bullard's roll-off rule.
  • Mention any power lines near the tree.
